Online recovery support program
Breaking Free Online is a free online support tool designed to help you manage problematic substance use. Breaking Free Online uses practical, self-guided courses, positive coping skills, and behaviour change techniques to support individuals in recovery and help prevent a relapse. It can be used independently, as part of an ongoing Mental Health or Addiction treatment program supervised by clinicians, practitioners, and service providers, or be supported by any service provider working within social services.
*Note - If you are a resident of Ontario you can access the program for FREE by entering your postal code at sign up
You can learn more information about this tool by speaking with a local Mental Health and Addictions program and/or a social service provider. Locally this includes:
- CMHA Windsor-Essex County
- Essex County Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic
- Essex Windsor EMS
- Harrow Family Health Team
- Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare
- House of Sophrosyne
- New Beginnings
- University of Windsor
- Windsor Family Health Team
The local coordination across partnering agencies, and structured evaluation to understand how Breaking Free Online is being delivered within and across services, including barriers and facilitators, is the result of a transformational $350,000 donation made by the Solcz Family Foundation to Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare’s Foundation. In November 2019, Ontario Health began supporting the Breaking Free Online, which included the development of an implementation toolkit for service providers. More recently, the Ontario government has invested in virtual services for addictions and now offers Breaking Free Online, free for all Ontarians.
