What is Substance Use?

Substance use refers to the use of alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, or other substances like prescription, illegal, or over-the-counter drugs.

Why Do Words Matter?

Sometimes the words we use to describe substance use can unintentionally contribute to negative attitudes and stereotypes that can be hurtful or negatively affect those who use substances and their families.

Our Community Response

The Windsor-Essex Community Opioid and Substance Strategy (WECOSS) seeks to address substance use through a community-driven action plan.

Prevent an Overdose

If you or someone you care about is using opioids in any form, it is important to have a naloxone kit in your home to prevent death or injury associated with overdose.
